Note that JPEG and bitmap images can only be used for quoting purposes — vector files are required for cutting.

Steel laser cutting requires engineering CAD formats (DWG, DXF, or IGS). If you only have PDF drawings, we can redraw them for a small additional fee.

Laser Cutting FAQs

What is the maximum thickness you can laser cut?+
For plastics (acrylic) we can cut up to 30mm thick. Timber (MDF/plywood) up to 25mm. Stainless steel up to 10mm (rough cut) or 6mm for a clean nitrogen-assisted cut. Mild steel and chromalloy up to 12mm.
Do you laser cut polycarbonate?+
We can laser cut thin-gauge polycarbonate, but for thicker sheets we recommend CNC router cutting as polycarbonate can discolour under intense laser heat. We'll advise the best method for your specific project.
Can you laser cut clear acrylic with polished edges?+
Yes — one of the biggest advantages of laser cutting acrylic is that it produces a flame-polished edge straight off the machine, eliminating the need for secondary edge finishing in most applications.
What file format do I need to provide?+
We accept DXF, DWG, AI, EPS, SVG, and IGS vector files. For steel cutting, engineering CAD formats (DWG, DXF, IGS) are required. JPEG and bitmap files can only be used for quoting — not cutting.
How quickly can you turn around a laser cutting job?+
Standard turnaround is 3–5 business days from approved artwork. We offer express 1–2 day turnaround subject to machine availability. Large production runs are quoted individually.
Is there a minimum order for laser cutting?+
No — we happily cut single pieces right through to large production runs. Every job gets the same precision and attention to detail.
